Jedd, This is for Chopper Dave who loves P-38's. Cy Homer raced Indians in the late 30's and early 40's. He was from Sacramento. His # was 22 and he was very very good at it. When the war started he wanted to be a pilot but the oxygen masks wouldn't fit his face properly so he became an infantry private. Later they had a different mask that would fit him and he flew P-38's out of New Guinea. He had over 20 confirmed kills. He shot 3 down on one mission protecting another flyer's plane that was shot up and wounded. He left the war as a Major. He died in 1972 and from that time back to the end of the war he worked at McCellen AFB here in Sacto. He never wanted any regonition of his heroics. He was an Ace 4 times over. A member of the F.S.M.C. since 1932. My hero!
